Dear colleague,
Thank you for your referral.
On exam, our patient had no signs of diabetic eye disease (E11.9). I explained to our patient the need for tight glucose control in helping prevent future diabetic ocular complications. I will continue to follow them for their yearly diabetic exam.
Our patient was found to have visually significant cataracts that are affecting their activities of daily living. After discussing with them the risks, benefits, and alternatives to cataract surgery, we decided together to proceed with surgery to remove the cataract.
Thank you again for allowing me to participate in their care.
Sincerely,
Gintien Huang, M.D.
